Michael Turner passed away…

I just read over at Newsarama that comic book artist Michael Turner passed away last night at the age of 37. I’m shocked… I mean really shocked. I just read the headline and looked blankly at my screen not wanting to believe it. Michael Turner was an comic artist I had grown up with and seen his evolution from unknown to superstar artist. I loved his work. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. It was hyper-realistic and dynamic and super-detailed. His most notable work the creation of the Witchblade character for TopCow Comics. Turner was one of the best artists in the industry and even if you didn’t love is work you couldn’t deny that he sold books. In early 2000 Turner was diagnosed with cancer…

“In March 2000, Turner was diagnosed with cancer which he lost his entire hip, 40% of his pelvis, and three pounds of bone. Since then he has been in and out of treatment for his condition”. (Via:Newsarama)

Since he got sick Michael Turner would take breaks from doing extended runs on series and not do as that many convention appearances for health related issues. He would make an effort to keep putting out as much stuff as he could because he loved his fans and loved the industry he worked in. He was a true comic fan himself. I’m kind of at a lack for words right now…
